A joy about working in a salon is you never know what your day will look like. One day you may have a few appointments, a couple walk-ins and some time to sip a cup of coffee, but other days your schedule can be booked solid without a minute to grab something to eat, let alone a moment to breathe.
To keep you happy, energized, and without the risk of dealing with an episode of “hangry’ness”, there are some tasty and healthy snack options that everyone can eat in between clients. With various dietary restrictions, sometimes it’s not the easiest to find something that is not only nutritious, delicious, affordable and just right for you.
Protein Shakes
Protein shakes are great to have with you not just at the salon, but to carry everywhere you go, as these shakes can be without refrigeration. Many are low carb, low sugar, low cal and high protein, to give you that energy boost without the crash while also filling you up, and curbing your hunger.
Trail Mix
A snack that is easily accessible and easy to carry, trail mix is a great source of fiber, protein, and some healthy fats. The best part about trail mix is you can purchase one that is prepackaged or, make your own to fit your nutritional needs and dietary restrictions. A delicious snack that is not only affordable but easy to make at home, no bake energy bites are healthy, delicious and protein packed.
This snack saves you time with no baking involved, and they can easily be stored for a grab and go type of nutritious treat. Making your own energy bite recipes or finding some online, you’re able to customize them by changing up ingredients and creating several variety options in an easy, on the go, energy fueling snack.
Almonds
This is a healthy snack staple that can be carried everywhere even in the smallest of purses, and in that tiny drawer at your workstation. Small, portable and clean, eating just a handful of almonds will give you the protein you need to keep you feeling full during the day whether you’re waiting for your lunch break or until the end of your shift.

When choosing which snacks or other food items to bring with you to hold you over, make sure you follow some helpful tips…

Plan out some healthy, portable snack options that will not only be quick and easy to eat but also without the fuss of having to refrigerate or clean up after.
Choose a few of your favorites and switch them up so every day isn’t the same and make sure to pick snacks that you enjoy that you’ll look forward to and not just snack on because they’re healthy.
Lastly, regardless of what snack you eat in between clients, save both you and your client by always having a bottle of water and mints at your station!
