Course Summary
Sanitation is important.
It is a matter of public health and ignoring it can lead to serious consequences for your salon, barbershop, or business. Bad reviews, client medical bills, or even worse, lawsuits can quickly follow if you don’t take the right steps to ensure your business is clean and hygienic.
The state of Texas wants to make sure that sanitation is a priority for all Cosmetology board licensees, whether your specialty is hair, nails, or skincare. This is why each time you renew your license, a Texas sanitation course is one of your requirements.
Who is this 1 hour Texas sanitation course for?
The TDLR website states:
“If you have held a license for at least 15 years, you will only need to complete one hour of department-approved continuing education in sanitation. The additional three hours of continuing education will be waived and will not be required.”
If you have held a license for 15 years, this 1 hour Texas sanitation course is the only course you need to complete to meet the continuing education requirements for your Texas cosmetology board license. It covers topics such as safety and hygiene regulations in the workplace, cleanliness of salon areas and equipment, proper sterilization methods, recognizing potential health hazards, and the human trafficking awareness requirement.
If you have not held a cosmetology license for 15 years, you most likely need to take a 4 hour continuing education course that is TDLR approved in order to meet the continuing education requirements of your Texas cosmetology board license.
We offer a 4 hour Texas Cosmetology Continuing Education Course. You can find that TDLR-approved course here: Texas 4 Hour Cosmetology Continuing Education Course.
